About

Hi, I'm Amanda.I'm a mom, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, doula, and childbirth educator—and I'm passionate about helping women feel informed, supported in their goals for health and wellness, and connected throughout their journey in motherhood. My own pregnancy, birth, and transition into motherhood made me realize how much information there is to navigate, how many decisions families are asked to make, and how easy it can be to feel overwhelmed along the way.I believe women's wellness and motherhood are a continuum—not a single moment. It begins long before birth and continues through pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and all the seasons of raising a child and beyond. Every woman's experience is different, and she deserves support that respects her body, her values, and her growing relationship with her child from the very beginning.Through AmandaMarieDO and Ember Mama, I create education, wellness support, and resources that help women feel more confident, informed, and connected throughout the many seasons of womanhood and motherhood. My goal is simple: to help women feel supported in their bodies, informed in their choices, and empowered to care for themselves and their families.

Background

I am a Chicagoland native from the Northwest side.I did not venture far for my undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science and double major in Biological Science and Dance, and minor in Psychology.
Go Wild Cats!
Before medical school, I built upon my knowledge and passion for health, fitness, and movement, working for a research organization studying exercise intervention to reduce fall risk in older adults. I served as a Research Assistant, Fitness Intervention Leader, and currently, I continued to teach specialized acrobatic, tumbling, and dance throughout the Chicagoland area.I later attended Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I was selected for a scholarship junior faculty position, which extended my medical school journey from 4 to 5 years to build my training and knowledge in osteopathic manipulative medicine and technique. At the beginning of my fifth year of medical school, my son joined our family and changed everything.Experiencing informed, empowered pregnancy and birth firsthand deepened my appreciation for the complexity and beauty of motherhood. It also transformed my perspective, shifting my focus toward supporting the maternal-infant bond and recognizing that one of the most meaningful ways to support infant and early childhood physical and emotional development is by directly supporting mothers. After earning my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University, I went on to obtain DNT Doula and Childbirth Education certification.I also founded Ember Mama, a newly growing online community for mothers to read experiences, learn, and share on topics such as wellness and movement, motherhood, self-growth and discovery, natural living, and family-friendly outings and adventures. In addition to my birth and women's wellness work, I serve as adjunct faculty in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine while also working in women's fitness, acrobatics, tumbling, and dance.
